Cholera in South Sudan

As of 16 February 2026, a total of 98,372 cholera cases, including 1,624 deaths, have been reported in South Sudan since this outbreak began in September 2024. Cases have been reported in 55 counties, across nine states and all three administrative areas. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on cholera.

As of 10 February 2026, a total of 870 new confirmed cholera cases and 22 deaths have been reported across four provinces in Mozambique since 4 February 2026. Chikungunya in French Guiana

As of 5 February 2026, four locally acquired (autochthonous) cases of chikungunya have been reported from French Guiana. Investigations have not revealed any link between these cases, indicating that the virus is already circulating widely within the local mosquito population. Mpox in Réunion ex Madagascar

As of 10 February 2026, two confirmed mpox cases, linked to travel to Madagascar, have been reported in Réunion for 2026. No epidemiological link has been established between these two cases. Bangladesh + Naogaon

Nipah virus in Bangladesh

On 6 February 2026, one confirmed fatal Nipah virus disease case was reported in Bangladesh for 2026. This case had no history of travel abroad, but had drunk raw date palm sap. No further cases have been detected; all contacts are being monitored and have tested negative. Bangladesh first reported Nipah virus disease in 2001 and infections have been reported almost every year since, with four confirmed cases in 2025. Risk of international spread is low.
