Chikungunya in Saint Lucia

As of 5 March 2026, a confirmed case of chikungunya has been reported in Saint Lucia. The Ministry of Health notes that several countries in the area have recently reported increases in chikungunya activity. Given the movement of people between territories and the presence of the Aedes mosquito locally, Saint Lucia remains at risk for additional cases. Cholera in Zambia

Between 5 August 2025 and 4 March 2026, a total of 1,133 cholera cases and 18 deaths have been reported. The highest number of cases have been recorded in Mpulungu (417 cases), Lusaka (326 cases), and Nsama (161 cases). Please see our Topics in Brief article below for further details on cholera.

Mpox in Madagascar

Between 18 December 2025 and 4 March 2026, Madagascar reported 492 confirmed mpox cases and one death across 34 districts. The outbreak epicentre is currently Mahajanga I, with 264 confirmed cases. Chikungunya in Argentina

As of 2 March 2025, 200 suspected cases of chikungunya (13 confirmed) have been reported in Salta province since the start of 2026. Lassa fever in Nigeria

As of 22 February 2026, a total of 1,989 suspected Lassa fever cases (404 confirmed, 43 deaths) have been reported since the start of 2026. Confirmed cases have been reported in 18 states, with 84% of confirmed cases reported from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo and Taraba. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on Lassa fever.

Yellow fever in Venezuela

As of 25 February 2026, a total of 36 confirmed yellow fever cases have been reported in Venezuela since this outbreak began in June 2025. These cases were in 42 municipalities across 14 states. 61% of cases have been reported in Apure, Táchira, Lara, Mérida, Barinas, Portuguesa, Cojedes and Guárico. Cases have been noted in parts of Lara and Aragua states where yellow fever vaccination is not usually recommended. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on yellow fever.
